FlexPlate-Powder Coated PEI

The new Powder Coated FlexPlate consists of three parts. The first is the magnetic surface that attaches to the printer's bed. The second and third are high-quality spring steel sheets covered with a sheet of the best PEI Ultem.

The FlexPlate-Powder Coated PEI is the perfect surface to print on. It’s very durable and easy to manage. Best of all, thanks to the flexible plate, your prints are very easy to remove. Just give it a small bend and the print will pop right off.

The FlexPlate-Powder Coated PEI is based on a ferrite core, which is much more heat resistant than neodymium magnets. This FlexPlate can withstand temperatures up to 130°C without any problems, so you can even use it with ABS.

PEI Ultem (Polyetherimide) is a reusable, relatively maintenance-free build surface for both ABS (with a heated bed) and PLA (hot or cold). Other materials such as Metal, Wood, PETG, ABS+ and many others also work perfectly. No additional adhesives such as glue or tape are required. PEI is convenient due to its "no-surface-prep" nature, which makes it easy to work with. Printing on PEI also requires no support rafts, as parts adhere directly to the surface.

How To Use

Unpack your FlexPlate, attach the magnetic surface to your print bed, and then attach the spring steel plate with PEI onto the magnetic surface. Remove the protective film from the PEI and re-level your print bed. You are now ready to print. Parts should come free from the surface almost effortlessly. PLA does not require heat, but setting the heated bed to 45°C can help. No adhesives are needed, though for large or long prints, using an adhesive stick is recommended to improve adhesion and make release easier. After printing, let the plate cool, remove it, and give it a gentle bend to pop the model off. Before each print, wipe the PEI surface with 70-91% Isopropyl alcohol to remove grease or residues and improve adhesion. You can clean the PEI with acetone, isopropyl alcohol, methyl alcohol, or soap after use.
